Is DrivePrep NSW official?
No. DrivePrep NSW is an independent study tool. Official rules, eligibility, fees, test arrangements, and current question-bank information come from NSW Government and Service NSW. The app does not guarantee a pass.
How do the different NSW knowledge tests compare?
The car DKT is a multiple-choice computer test, sat in person, with a fee due for each attempt (DKT Online is a separate paid course-and-test pathway, taking roughly 4–6 hours in total, with one retest allowed after 12 hours if you don't pass). The rider, Rider SMV, and heavy vehicle knowledge tests each use 45 multiple-choice questions drawn from their own official question bank, and NSW offers those tests in 10 languages with audio and interpreter support available.

What's the minimum age to sit a NSW knowledge test?
You can enrol in DKT Online from 15 years and 11 months, but you can only apply for a learner licence, and sit the in-person DKT, once you turn 16.
Do all the NSW knowledge tests have 45 questions?
The rider, Rider SMV, and heavy vehicle knowledge tests each use 45 questions drawn from their own official question bank. NSW's car DKT overview doesn't publish a fixed question count, but it's confirmed to be a multiple-choice computer test.
Which handbook should I read for my test?
Start with the Road User Handbook for car, rider, and general road-rule topics. Heavy vehicle candidates should also read the Heavy Vehicle Driver Handbook and Load Restraint Guide. DrivePrep NSW organises practice around these same topic areas.
Can I switch pathways in DrivePrep NSW?
